Video: Cordae & Hit-Boy – Checkmate (Madden 23)

For the triumphant “Checkmate” video, straight off the Madden 23 Soundtrack, Hit-Boy teams up with Cordae.

The video follows the duo as they cut the song in the studio and release it online while accompanied by their entourages. As Cordae rhymes in the studio, glimpses of Madden 23 gameplay featuring Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens can be seen on the television in the distance.

With Hit-Boy choosing to combine Y2K Hip-Hop with Cordae’s sound of the future, “Checkmate’s” production has a sound reminiscent of Just Blaze and Bink from the early 2000s. The Lost Boy, 25, flaunts his accomplishment on the track while bragging about his resistance to change despite all of his recent wealth.
