Video: Asiahn – Fall Back

Asiahn, an up-and-coming R&B star, puts her seductive side on full display in the music video for her latest track, titled “Fall Back.” The song tells the age-old tale of navigating through a situationship or one-night stand and establishing boundaries once someone becomes too comfortable much too quickly. It might also be seen as a song about having a one-night stand.

After a sleepless night in the heat, Asiahn opens her eyes to find traces of her lady lover scattered all over her home. Within the LGBTQ+ community, it is common knowledge that lesbians move quite swiftly in relationships, and the narrative shown in “Fall Back” is not an exception to this rule. A letter written on a post-it that said, “Loved waking up to you. Someone had written on her pillow, “We ought to do it more frequently.” In addition, there was a toothbrush and some clothing that were left behind.

Asiahn provided the following explanation in a statement: “the tale behind the song is, well, genuine. I’m sure that all of us have been in situations in which we were attempting to get to know someone on a more informal basis. After that, it is only natural that she should end up falling in love anyway. It’s a song that tells the person to “fall back, you doing too much,” and it’s about a song. Let’s take some time to get to know each other before deciding whether or not to pursue a more committed relationship.

Asiahn establishes her limits over a glass of wine as the visual transitions between more personal scenes of the females set to the accompaniment of harp and saxophone instrumentation, with her singing, “I know you on a mission/You tryna make me your Mrs/But let me play my position.”
