You let others know when you and them are made of the same stuff. Real-life cousins Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar team up for Keem’s newest single and music video for their powerful collaboration, “Family Ties.”

The cinematic video, which was directed by Dave Free through Free and Lamar’s creative business, pgLang, begins with a crowd of Black males wearing black bombers and sunglasses, with Keem and Lamar sticking out in their orange clothing. In Scene 1, Keem reintroduces himself by rapping on his life’s path, his past experiences, being misunderstood, and the places his undeniable success will undoubtedly lead him.

Put that on my mom, nigga, who ate in the process, he raps, “Ni**as trying to tippy-toe through the progress.” “What are the advantages and disadvantages of this next check? I’m tongue-tied when the truth is an object. I was alone and driving about alone in the 1990s with the windows tinted.

Lamar tells everyone that he is still present in Scene 2. Yes, he has been absent, but don’t misunderstand; nothing has changed. K-Dot is still the king of hip-hop. He has returned and is taking no prisoners.

He screams, “I am the Omega, pgLang, Rollie gang, açai / Don’t you address me unless it’s with four letters, bi**h,” before announcing that he’s back and ready to take no prisoners. ‘I assumed you’d know better,’ I have been avoiding the pandemic, the social media gimmicks, and the Overnight Actavis, yes. I am a prophet, not a hot issue, and I answer to Metatron and Gabriel.

Before the rappers make their last declarations at the end of the video, singer Normani makes a cameo appearance in a stretch limo SUV. Watch the music video to see Black ballerinas and other characters.

Hear “No Sense” and the Travis Scott-assisted “Durag Activity” first. “Family Ties” is Keem’s third single of 2021 and will be on his upcoming album, The Melodic Blue. Along with Cardo, Outtatown, Roselilah, Jasper Harris, Frankie Bash, and Deats, Keem produced the song.
