Video: Chance the Rapper – A Bar About a Bar

A new song from Chance The Rapper called “A Bar About A Bar” has been released along with a music video. Vic Mensa joins him in the video, which was directed by Chance The Rapper. Vic Mensa says, “What you got?” while the two write on their own notepads. Chance replies, “I got a bar about a bar,” and the song’s lyrics start to tell a little story.

The artwork for the song’s single is painted by Nikko Washington in the video as well. In a press release, Washington’s work was cited as being influenced by “Abar, the First Black Superman’s unorthodox, Afro-futuristic, and surrealist depiction of racial inequality, racial integration, and classism in the suburbs of white America.” The oil on canvas piece will be on display at The Art Institute of Chicago through Sunday, May 29.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper sings about a scene in a bar where a man walks in looking for a drink. Before the release date for their planned collaboration “The Highs And The Lows” is announced, the video features Chance The Rapper and Joey Bada$$ relaxing on a boat.

The song “A Bar About A Bar” is the follow-up to the earlier-this-month released “Wraith (Writing Exercise #3)” by Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa.
