Video: El Michels Affair & Black Thought – Glorious Game

The title track from Black Thought and El Michels Affair’s upcoming joint album, “Glorious Game,” has been released as a new single.

As the Philly-born lyricist attacks the song with a stream of consciousness flow and layers sharp one-liners and heady couplets that keep listeners on their toes, the Brooklyn-based band provides a charming yet thundering vibe.

The bearded veteran rhymes in his opening bars, “Okay, I’m too Black for y’all to erase/Shoot too straight for y’all to replace,” reflecting the arrogant defiance against the system and critics that has been an overarching theme throughout his career. Thought’s clever reference to late rap icon Ol’ Dirty Bastard, calling himself “the one man army, Ason,” is also consistent with his commitment to boosting his musical and cultural peers.
