Video: Godfather of Harlem – Just in Case ft. Swizz Beatz, Rick Ross, DMX
The narrative of Bumpy Johnson, known as the “Godfather of Harlem,” will make its debut on EPIX on September 29 under the title “The Godfather of Harlem.” Epic Records is in charge of putting together the score for the movie, and they release brand new songs every Friday.
The fellas over at Epic have just released today (September 27) the video for “Just in Case” featuring DMX, Swizz Beatz, and Rick Ross, which were produced by DAPS.
Rick Ross, who is clad in a white mink, performs a song from the interior of an old-school Lincoln Town Car that is parked in a dim alleyway. He raps about having dreams of money bags. While he works on his verse, DMX is shown sitting at a table with Rozay and Forest Whitaker, who plays the role of Bumpy Johnson.
Minton’s Playhouse, a storied jazz venue located on 118th Street in Uptown Harlem, served as the setting for the filming of this video.
The story of Bumpy Johnson’s connections to the Genovese crime family, his friendship with Malcolm X, and his larger-than-life stature in the Harlem World is told in the film The Godfather of Harlem.
