Harlem will always be recognised as the epicentre of black culture in the city of New York. Rap is not an exception; aspiring musicians from all other professions find success in New York City, which is sometimes considered the unofficial capital of the music industry. Dave East, the newest hip-hop prince to come out of the borough, just dropped some lively visuals for his song “Time Ticking” featuring Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel, and they are a perfect illustration of hometown pride.

As of today (March 14), East and Santana are showing their support for New York in the music video that was directed by Kid Art. The locals of Harlem stand here and utilise the convenience store as a stage to rap while flashing large amounts of cash while doing it incognito. In keeping with the spirit of Rotten Apple, the video also depicts East and Santana spitting bars in the stairwell of a project building with a gang of agitated thugs. That’s what you get when you go Uptown.

“Time ticking gotta get it/ Where that money at?/ Where that money at?””You know if I front you that, I need that money back/You know how I’m coming if I got to come for that/Double back/Somebody body getting mummy wrapped,” Santana raps on the track. “You know how I’m coming if I got to come for that/Double back/Somebody body getting mummy wrapped.”

Santana has been releasing new music on a regular basis over the course of the previous three months, getting fans ready for his mixtape, The Get Back. In addition, credible insider sources claim that Dave East is hard at work on the follow-up project to his Kairi Chanel release from 2016.
