Video: Lil Nas X – Thats What I Want

The music video for Lil Nas X’s recently published single “That’s What I Want” has the young rapper recounting a heartbreakingly romantic story. Stillz is responsible for the innovative graphic that depicts the pop artist going through the emotions of love and heartbreak. In the song video, the artist, who is only 22 years old, plays the role of a football player who becomes involved in a lusty relationship with a teammate, which does not end well for him.

The Montero University football game serves as the opening scene of the music video. The athletes are identified by their bright pink uniforms, and Lil Nas X and another individual keep their gaze fixed on the playing field. After the game, there is a sexual encounter between the two men in the locker room, and then there is another one by the campfire.

After having two sexual experiences with his partner, the singer from “Old Town Road” drives to his partner’s house to deliver flowers, only to find out that his companion is already married and has a wife and a child. He is so upset that he sobs as he walks away from the scene and then drinks himself into a deep sleep. After he loses consciousness, he has a vision, which may or may not be a dream, of his wedding being performed by Billy Porter in the presence of a gospel choir and a boisterous audience of witnesses. As the music video draws to a close, Lil Nas X, who is dressed in a long white bridal gown and a tulle veil, can be seen walking down the aisle to get a guitar from Porter, which he then plays.
