Video: Mi Raza – El Individuo (de Con100cia)

Inside of DJ Jigue’s Guampara Studios in Cuba, a venue for Afro-Cuban expression and the archiving of a manifestation of black resistance in Cuba in 2017 gave birth to AfroRazones in 2017. AfroRazones was established in 2017.

It was fostered by a group of Cuban and U.S.-based musicians and organisers (including LPZ, who produces for Cuban hip-hop luminaries, Danay Suarez and Los Aldeanos), who were aware of the impending changes that would result from the ongoing geopolitical transitions and diplomatic relations that were taking place.

El Individuo’s “Mi Raza,” a political homage to blackness and the global afrodescendiente community, is proudly presented by the multimedia project that doubles as a compilation CD. In the official music video, one member of Con100cia can be seen imparting knowledge on topics that, without this video, would be devoid of any historical background or context.

In anticipation of VIBE’s trip to Cuba at the end of this month, during which we’ll get the chance to work hands-on with El Individuo and other members of the island’s budding hip-hop scene, we are delighted to provide the premiere of “Mi Raza.”
