Video: Normani – Wild Side ft. Cardi B

When Normani releases new music, you can anticipate a nod to the past, sultry vocals, and impeccable choreography. This is exactly what the R&B singer offers in “Wild Side,” a song and music video she recently released with Cardi B. Since releasing her debut solo single “Motivation” in August 2019, Normani hasn’t had a song released.

In the sensual video, which was choreographed by Sean Bankhead and directed by Tanu Muino, the performers are only seen wearing long wigs as they caress each other as Cardi B raps her explicit verse.

When Cardi first heard the song, Normani had already been practising for the video for about three weeks, according to a press release. “She really came through for me and made this record come to life by just doing what Cardi does best,” she said. I will always be appreciative and I love that woman deeply.

In the song “Wild Side,” a sample from Aaliyah’s timeless 1996 hit single “One In A Million,” the 25-year-old singer reveals her desire to advance her romance.

I want to get wild, take you for a ride, show me your wild side, we can’t just keep talking about it, we think about it too much, we can’t just be cautious about it. In the chorus of the song, she sings, “Know it’s been a while, boy / I wanna get wild.

In typical Aaliyah fashion, her delicate tone is set against intricate choreography. In numerous scenes, Normani changes her entire appearance while being accompanied by a large number of background dancers. She also changes the tempo from quick eight-counts to sexy body rolls. Although this is the first time the two musicians have collaborated on a song, Normani appeared in Cardi B’s viral “WAP” video with Megan Thee Stallion. Fans can only hope that this ushers in a new era for the rising star, who has yet to put out her solo debut album.

The Bronx rapper recently announced she and her husband Offset are expecting baby No. 2 during a performance with an exposed baby bump at the 2021 BET Awards, as VIBE previously reported. The growing family recently celebrated the third birthday of their firstborn daughter, Kulture.
