Video: Redman – Slap Da Shit Outcha

The one thing about hip-hop that can be relied upon is that rap icon and top poet Reggie “Redman” Noble will always give the rough and raw with a dash of comedy. This is something that can be counted on. In these days of increased thuggery by rappers who are not nearly as tough as they profess to be, this is a wave of balance that is very much appreciated. But what about red? I’m willing to bet that in real life he would “Smack Tha Sh!t Outcha” much like the title of the music video for his most recent track. Red’s comic side is complemented by the slow flow funk music as he portrays scenarios in which he may find himself, such as “Women always throwing hints when they rent due/ and I throw a hint right back, ‘What the fu@k you gon’ do?'” Before I pay you rent I’ll slap the sh!t out of you, so go collect your money, you brought your wig out of it.

The second tune to be published from his recently-completed three-song EP that was just given the moniker 3 Joints (get it? Redman…weed lover…joints…yeah) is located in the middle of “It’s a Banguh” and “Zugga,” with the former being an uptempo modified rhythm version of his and partner Method Man’s smash “Da Rockwilder.” “Zugga” refers to a gangsta rap style of music. The latter is a bongo-based neck breaker that is loaded with a variety of punchlines.
