Video: Travis Scott – STOP TRYING TO BE GOD
On Monday, August 6, Travis Scott’s music video for his song “Stop Trying to Be God” was made available online. In the music video that was directed by Dave Meyers, La Flame makes up for his misdeeds by being subjected to the wrath of God. The music video was released only a few days after Travis Scott’s highly-anticipated third studio album, AstroWorld, was made available to the public.
The music video has a variety of religious allegories and visuals, such as Scott leading a flock of sheep, baptising his followers in a pool from which they emerge purified, and James Blake singing during a sermon.
In addition, Kylie Jenner, who is Scott Disick’s girlfriend and the mother of their daughter Stormi, makes an appearance in the video. She is depicted in a scene draped in gold, where she is both consoling Scott and also cradling a little lamb. Jenner has been showing her support for her guy during the launch of the album. She wrote on Instagram that the record goes “hard” and that it’s been “the craziest ride of [her] life.”
The album consists of 17 tracks and has guest performances from a variety of artists, including Frank Ocean, Drake, Tame Impala, The Weeknd, Pharrell, and Nav, among others. Throughout the entirety of “Stop Trying to Be God,” famed musician Stevie Wonder contributes his distinctive instrumental stylings by playing the harmonica. “Stop Trying to Be God” The album also includes production from artists such as Murda Beatz, Mike Dean, WondaGurl, Tame Impala, Thundercat, and Boi-1da.
