Victoria Monét has discovered her niche, which involves continuously making fun of Jaguar, Part II. Her most recent hit, “Coastin’,” features a Soul Train-inspired music video that has a ’70s funk vibe. Monét samples “Risin’ to the Top,” a 1982 classic by Keni Burke, and transitions from being a diner server to cruising with her girlfriends to a party where we still ponder how she acquired an ass like that.

Her mother L’Tanya and internet sensation Rickey Thompson are both featured in the Omar Jones-directed short film. After the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter released her avant-garde album, Jaguar, in 2020, fans have been anxiously awaiting more from her.

The 28-year-old celebrity said in a press release that “if sunshine and a good time (and maybe a little drink) were a song, it would be ‘Coastin‘.” It’s designed for folks with that positive, laid-back spirit, and the bassline immediately gives you a specific mood! The Stereotypes deserve praise for slaying this production. We intended for this song to symbolize the freedom to step outside at last. It feels even better to be able to finally enjoy ourselves, create priceless memories, and have a wonderful time after the year we’ve had. May I also add that it sounds particularly excellent in the car, beside the pool, or near any beach. “Play the video, and let’s coast!”

The Georgia native also included a flier in the video with the address “916 Black Jag Dr,” causing many to believe that fans should mark September 16 on their calendars in case new music debuts on that day. However, Jaguar, Pt. II’s release date has not yet been disclosed.
