Video: Vince Staples – Big Fish

The new song “Big Fish” by Vince Staples is the follow-up to his previous release “BagBak,” which was released in February. The new release follows in the footsteps of his more approachable recent work (or at least is more approachable in comparison to his previous work), and draws inspiration from west coast funk. What has remained the same is Staples’ darkly humorous reflection, which goes as follows: “It’s funny I was going crazy not too long ago / With my problems every morning like the Maury show.” The music video for “Big Fish” has Staples playing on a vessel that is in the process of sinking.

Zane Lowe was informed by Staples that the release date for his upcoming sophomore album, titled Big Fish Theory, will be on June 23.
