Video: Dave East – Rules

As he imparts knowledge on the ins and outs of the streets, Dave East leads a hostile takeover of the class in the music video for his most recent song, “Rules,” which was just released.

A television starts showing a snippet of Denzel Washington’s portrayal of Frank Lucas in the 2007 movie American Gangster, which is sampled in the video, which was directed by Will C and Tana of Streetheat.

The Harlem representative intervenes and delivers a timely lecture to his classmates after spotting Dave East among a rowdy group of pupils who are not interested in understanding the academic material being taught by the teacher. The 34-year-old raps, “Biggie had commandments/ I got rules,” over the chaotic background as his peers transform the space into an impromptu party.
