Video: Maxwell – OFF

We consider this to be a Maxwell type of world, and we couldn’t be happier to call it home. The long-awaited album blacksummers’NIGHT kicks out with the lead single, “OFF,” which is the latest romantic slow jam released by the artist.

The music video, which was created by Philip Andelman, takes viewers on an emotional journey that is expertly paced. During the scene that was filmed in the middle of the desert, Maxwell can be seen wearing a black suit with gold embellishments, looking every bit the suave and captivating crooner that we have come to know and like. Alternating bouts of darkness are interspersed throughout. He leans in to kiss a lovely Black woman on the lips while the two of them exchange intimate glances and loving gestures with the appropriate amount of aggressive desire.

When he sings lines such as “I see you in the dark/And like a moon-lit spark/I’ve never been so in awe/Creamy chocolate work of art,” it is not difficult to become engrossed in the ethereal quality of the vision.
