Video: Jessie Reyez - Far Away

Jessie Reyez, a singer, has released a new song and music video titled “Far Away,” in which she discusses the heartbreaking experience of having a loved one deported from the country.

The images for the song were directed by Peter Huang, and they feature the vocalist from Columbia-Candaian origin dancing alone while her boyfriend stares terrified into the camera. The vocalist of “Imported” narrates the narrative of keeping her relationship strong as her spouse applies for citizenship in the United States.

Shortly after the release of her debut extended play (EP), titled Kiddo, VIBE chatted with Reyez, and during their conversation, she discussed some of the challenges that are specific to women.

“I love that women are coming together to talk about sh*t we have to deal with,” she remarked. “It’s about time!” “It has been here since the beginning of time, but it only presents itself in waves. It’s ridiculous that in the year 2017, people are still trying to make sense of things that took place two decades ago.
